Using the library is free.
Discover a rich variety of choices:
- books about everything - politics, current social affairs, art, sports, science, cooking and more
- books you can read for pleasure and leisure, such as poems, novels and suspense
- magazines, newspapers, DVD videos, and computer games
- Language courses to teach yourself Danish
- Free internet access, e. g. www.finfo.dk
- Books for children and adults in languages other than Danish
- places where you can study or just sit and read.
Many public libraries offer homework help for schoolchildren. Ask at your local library.
The Danish Library Centre for Integration (SBCI) acquires and lends books, music and films in more than 30 languages. You can borrow these through your local library. If you can't find the book you want to borrow on the shelf at your local library, you can ask a librarian to order it for you. Or you can order it yourself at www.bibliotek.dk and have it delivered to your local library, where you can pick it up. Read more about finding and ordering your books through bibliotek.dk.
You have to be registered in order to borrow books, but becoming a registered borrower is easy. Bring ID, for instance your yellow health insurance card (sundhedskort) with you to your local library. Children will need the signature of a parent or legal guardian. All borrower information will be treated with confidentiality.
Borrowing books from the library is free, but you will be charged a fee if your return your books late.
