Municipal Schools & Private Schools

All children living in Denmark must receive schooling. This is also valid for foreign children staying in Denmark for over six months. Children must go to school for at least nine years beginning at the age of seven. Children may attend public school free of charge or choose an approved private school. Public schools even have a kindergarten (preparatory) class and a 10th. class. These classes are not compulsory, though kindergarten class is recommended.
