Finished elementary school – now what?

It is important to start thinking about the future, even while you're still in school. There are a lot of things to figure out. What kind of a job would you like? What sort of education? On UddannelsesGuiden.dk , you will find some material that may help you gain some perspective on what you want to do with your life, how you can prepare for it, and if there are any specific steps that you yourself need to take in order to get there.

Maybe you feel that having to decide on your future is an enormous responsibility – well, it is! That's why there are people around to help you shoulder that responsibility, and on UddannelsesGuiden.dk, you can seek out information and work with different scenarios.

Youth Education Counselling (UU – Ungdommens Uddannelsesvejledning)

One of the people who may help you with your decision is the youth education counsellor (UU-vejlederen). It is her/his job to help you figure out what you want to do, and how to go about it, once you quit school.

The youth education counsellors provide individual advice and counselling to:

  • Students in grades 6 through 9 of elementary school

  • Students in 10th grade of elementary school

  • Other youths in the municipality below the age of 19, who have inadequate access to other forms of counselling regarding education or employment

  • Youths living within the municipality and aged 19 through 25, provided they themselves actively seek out the counselling.

A local branch of the Youth Education Counselling (Ungdommens Uddannelsesvejledning) is affliated with every municipal authority in Denmark.

Find your local branch in the list at UddannelsesGuiden.dk (Danish). The list is kept up to date on a regular basis.
