The Nordic Library Conference 2011: Cultural Diversity, Community and ServicesIn August 2011, The Nordic Library Conference 2011 gathers librarians, practitioners, academics and other interested parties from the Nordic countries and around the world in Copenhagen, Denmark. The theme for this year’s conference is Cultural Diversity, Community and Services. Given the new and ever-changing challenges libraries face in terms of servicing minorities in an increasingly multicultural society, the theme is a timely one. The conference is an opportunity to discuss these challenges, share knowledge and experiences and initiate new relationships and projects. The conference presents a wide selection of keynote speakers, theme sessions and paper presentations. Among those confirmed as speakers are Thomas Hylland Eriksen, Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo, Dilsa Demirbag-Sten, author, journalist and storyteller and Ethelene Whitmire, Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Library and Information Studies. The deadline for registration is the 1st of August and the price is 365 Euros. The joint hosts for the conference are The National Library of Norway, The National Library of Sweden and The State and University Library of Denmark.
